Looking backwards and looking forwards...

Hey there beautiful guys and gals,

Been a while since we last posted, so I thought I'd give a shout and say hey.

Alright, that's enough chit chat, time for business: what's been up with us? Well, we've been keeping busy, in one form or another.  We had a fairly fucking killer show at Mercury Lounge about a month ago--very very fun.  Since then we've been practicing a shitload, and writing new material.  The songs we're writing right now are excellent.  Can't wait to perform them for you guys. Hopefully get them recorded soon.

As for upcoming shows, it's looking like we're gonna play Mercury Lounge again in early April. Details have yet to be solidified, so don't quote us on that. We're definitely looking forward to seeing all you fine folks in splendid form, and premiering some new shit for you.

We recently got quite a nice review on a blog called The Culture of Me.  You can check it out here: http://www.thecultureofme.com/culture/2009/03/emerging-the-yes-way.html

As for my personal self, the Nick in the band, I'm hungry and listening to music.  I'm also bored and I just made a mix tape for no one in particular. Here's what's on it:

Frightened Rabbit - The Twist
Howlies - Smoke
Glasvegas - Go Square Go
Xiu Xiu - No Friend Oh!
A.C. Newman - Take On Me (his cover of the classic A-ha song)
Los Campesinos! - Death To Los Campesinos!
Los Campesinos! - Miserabilia
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - Everything With You
Metric - Help I'm Alive
Antony & The Johnsons - Another World
Adele - Hometown Glory (Live)
DeVotchKa - How It Ends
Heartless Bastards - The Mountain

If you don't know these bands/artists I highly recommend checking them out.

Let's be in touch,

The Yes Way

by the way...did you know that the double space after a period is dead? no one told me....

Follow these 4 kids in 2009

Well, guys and girls, the new year is here. We've almost made it through whatever you call the current decade, and thus far the state of our music is strong.

Here's a little recap of The Yes Way in 2008:
  • We recorded not one but TWO EP's, the most recent of which, Who's Better Than You?, was released on Dec. 12th at Public Assembly in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
  • We played venues big and small, from the Central Park Bandshell to Trash Bar to Rockwood Music Hall (several times).
  • We practiced incessently, honing our skills, our dynamic, our musical appreciation, our sound, and our trajectory.
  • We partied. Hard. Seriously. We're hurting right now.
  • We saw amazing live shows and festivals (All Points West, anyone??)
  • We fought, we loved, we bickered, we ate and drank and vomited it back up, we cursed and smoked, we skinned our knees and broke our wrists, we blew our minds all over the dining room table, and we still managed to find time to sit down and breathe for a minute or two.

Yes, all in all it actually was a pretty good year, even though I tend to think that there ought to be at least one "Top Ten Reasons 2008 Totally Blew" list out there to balance the Best Of lists.

Looking out toward the future, we're already getting antsy in our pantsy about how 2009 is shaping up. Here are some things already on our plate:

  • We're playing Mercury Lounge on January 30th! Check out www.myspace.com/theyesway for details.
  • We're gonna be hitting up the studio again (as soon as we stockpile some cash) to record the songs that we're constantly writing.
  • A short tour is definitely in the works.
  • We wanna get signed. Obviously.
  • We are looking for a manager. If you're interested, hit us up. We've got a lot of potential to offer, and we're all ears.
  • There's preliminary talks in the works for a Yes Way music video. More on that as details unfurl.

The thing we're most excited about, jutting far above the rest of all that shit, is continuing to put out creative, meaningful music. That's why we're doing this.

We hope you'll keep your eye on us.

Regards,

The Yes Way

Introducing...The Yes Way Blog!

Everyone's got one these days. Now we've hijacked the bandwagon.

As you may have noticed, The Yes Way is now on blogspot. In this wonderful cyber-medium we'll be keeping you up-to-date with Yes Way show dates, fun facts, info, our deepest, darkest secrets, opinions, ideas, rants, eccentricities, oddities, epiphanies, and all those other ies that add color to an otherwise grayscale world. We just may throw in a picture or a video here or there.

On to breaking news...

The Yes Way will be hosting their record release party on December 12th, 2008 at Public Assembly in Williamsburg (formerly known as Galapagos)!

That's right, our brand-spanking-new EP Who's Better Than You?, hot off the south Jersey presses, will be showered upon the masses next Friday night. It promises to be an epic night of music, mayhem and debauchery. We've been working on this EP for a while, pouring our sweat, blood, tears, and other bodily fluids (not to mention cash money) into a product we are very proud of. Also performing will be our good other friends My Other Friend (another awesome Billyburg band) and superstars Quintus, with a special headliner to be announced soon. The phenomenal Simon Garrett of The Bollocks will be DJing. And, of course, our EPs will be available, along with T-shirts and other Yes Way paraphernalia.

The show starts at 9pm, and the cost is $8 plus your eternal gratitude for having changed blown your fucking minds. Check out www.publicassemblynyc.com for directions and such.

That's it for now. If you're a Yes Way newbie, you can jump over to www.myspace.com/theyesway and have a listen to our tunes. You might like what you hear. If you do, we hope to see you at the December 12th show. If you don't, come anyway and we'll change your mind.

Also, we'd like to say thank fucking god Obama won. I mean, can you imagine? Jesus....

Peace

The Yes Way
